Cruise Ship Jobs, Departments

To keep the organization and good guest satisfaction always at high level, the Cruise Ship industry has a simple but genius concept.
The Department System.
With establishing different departments, it is way easyer for the Cruise Lines to control and organize a high number of crew members on board.
At the end, if the system is functioning flawless, the guest is satisfied.
Every single crew member on board is assigned to a specific department, in which he/she is performing their daily duty's, responsibility's and tasks.

The Department System consists of 6 major category's.
* Nautical
* Engineering
* Hotel
* Entertainment
* Administration
* Provision
 These departments are then divided in to subcategory's , and the system is complete.

When applying for a position on a Cruise Ship, it is always important to state the position which You are applying for, and the Department.
Here is an example:
I'm applying for a position as a Head Waiter in the F&B department, which is one of the subcategory's under the Hotel Department.
So in the end You will be working under the Hotel Department, and Your executive superior will be the Hotel Manager
No matter under which department You work, it is crucial to know and follow the rules of this System.
In that way a "chain of command" is established.
Chain of command is a line of authority and responsibility which is passed from the executive superior, following the strict order of command.
Example:
Master (Captain)- General Manager- Hotel Manager- F&B Manager- Ass. F&B Manager- Bar Chef- Bar Waiter
In this way the chain of command is complete.

So if You are going to work on a Cruise Ship regardless in which department, keep in mind that You will have to follow certain rules and commands of the "Ship Life".

Work on a Cruise Ship

While the world economy is changing dramatically, more and more people are looking for a way to solve their financial struggle and improve their life style. No doubt that one of these escapes are Cruise Ships.

What makes the Cruise Ships industry so popular?
Like already mentioned, the world today is fighting a large economical crisis, which creates a destructive outcome on the already poor regions and country's.
In these times when most of us struggle for survival, the Cruise Ship industry is growing larger and getting more popular each day. With this expansion, everyday new positions are opened, new people hired, and new life story's written all over again.
Only the thought of escaping a destiny of poverty and struggle is encouraging so many people to make the first step, and eventually set the sail on a Cruiser.
But it is not all about escaping the financial problems and struggle for survival that makes a job on a Cruise Ship so interesting. The idea of an adventure to sail all over the world, visit places never seen before and eventually meet new friends, makes the job on a Cruise Ship so popular.

Why work on a Cruise Ship?
The answear is really simple. Because all of us have to work.
Lets forget about the "moder slavery" for a moment. Fact is that today wherever we go, we will find "modern slavery" disguised in all forms under the word Capitalism.
That's the cruel truth we have to face now days.
I wont negate that the Cruise industry isn't taking advantage of this current situation.
But to be fair, who isn't? Therefor we need to realize it is not going to be a dream come true, the perfect place to work in, or an easy walk trough to grab the money. NO, its going to be a lot of sweat, dedication and pain, but in the end its going to be worth it.
You will return home victorious and strong, with a lot of precious memories and the most important of all, with a respective income.
The best part of working on a Cruise Ship is that you don't have to pay rent, food or for travel expanses. You will have all of these things for free. So it will be easy to save some money while visiting the places You could only dream of.

So my closing argument is:
"The moment we accept our destiny, we forget a dream about a better life.
So pack Your bags and start moving, cause life is a travel"
